CQC School (Close Quarters Combat School) is one of the schools of instruction that make up the Todd Group, formerly the Baldock Institute, established in 1927. The Todd Group are long-term and current-status military CQC training providers, as well as global civilian CQC training providers to responsible civilians. The Todd Group are the oldest private training providers of our kind to military services and civilian enthusiasts in European military CQC. The Todd systems of CQC are cohesive through systems commonality and comprise both European military close quarters combat and European military self defence packages. They are neither traditional martial arts nor competitive combat sports. The tactics and skills are based on specialist, role-proven armed and unarmed combat, as well as urban options self-defence.
The Todd Group conducts our civilian training in the same modus operandi as we do our regular military and elite forces courses of instruction. This provides the unique experience for serious civilian enthusiasts to live CQC the military way on intensive courses of instruction. Our training provision model is based on setting and maintaining the highest possible military CQC standards first and foremost. All Todd Group HQ and depot instructors have proven themselves by completing the same mandatory training requirements and passing the required testing phases to achieve instructor status. There are no easy options or political passes and this is one of the factors that attracts service personnel and realist civilians on Todd Group courses.
The Todd Group HQ website provides background information as well as information and joining instructions for upcoming HQ and exported courses.
The Todd Group recruits serious, committed combative and self-defence enthusiasts with the smarts and inner resolve required to achieve their highest competency and confidence levels in military close quarters combat and military self defence. Not everyone is capable of passing the phase test requirements, but those wanting to achieve promotion including instructor qualification must do so. Some exponent's attend courses simply to undergo the training for self protection or for career roles requirements and do not intend to volunteer to undergo testing. This is acceptable and understandable in relation to exponent's capabilities and requirements.
Exponents and instructors must be responsible committed realists that respect the chain of command and can follow orders and instructions with commitment always striving for self-improvement. Our commitment to our trade craft includes the development of training equipment, military role knives and continuation training resources for our exponents.
We are current military CQC training providers. Our packages are made up of our most primary, proven and current methods of threat neutralisation and objective achievement. We specialise in small group and individual tuition specialist training provision in phase 1 basic, phase 2 advanced and phase 3 specialist packages of European military armed and unarmed combat.
Our headquarters is located in Dunedin, New Zealand and training camp is close to Dunedin airport. Our international hub country is Thailand where we conduct regular combined military and civilian exponent courses. Our chief instructor's lineage includes instructor qualification from several of the WWII CQC pioneer master-chief instructors, as well as next-generation military master-chief Instructors.
